Role Overview

• This position involves an international advisory function to oversee the indirect tax responsibilities of the Liberty Global (LG) group, encompassing various corporate entities.


Key Responsibilities

• Deliver indirect tax guidance to the organization and contribute to strategic initiatives and mergers & acquisitions projects.

• Assist rapidly growing businesses within the portfolio with indirect tax considerations related to their operations.

• Facilitate the implementation of optimized and best practice VAT strategies across the LG group.


Daily Activities

• Offer support and counsel to European business units and corporate entities regarding routine indirect tax issues to mitigate risks and enhance VAT positions, including assistance with indirect tax audits and disputes.

• Oversee VAT group registrations for corporate entities, including regular assessments of entity activities and evaluations of relevant entity changes.

• Provide assistance to high-growth businesses, aiding them with daily operations, optimizing their VAT standings, and sharing updates and strategic insights with finance teams.

• Deliver practical and commercial support along with VAT technical analysis on pertinent projects and transactions, including M&A activities and operational finance initiatives, to enhance VAT outcomes.

• Collaborate with affiliates and other corporate departments to identify, assess, and develop strategies aimed at optimizing the VAT position of the LG group in a practical manner.

• Advise on optimizing the indirect tax position of corporate entities and affiliates, focusing on VAT risk management and potential cash savings.

• Provide insights on VAT implications related to inter-company transactions among LG group headquarters across various regions.

• Counsel on VAT and duty considerations for cross-border goods movements within the group, including import/export activities involving multiple countries.

• Work in conjunction with the broader VAT team, sharing knowledge and experiences to ensure comprehensive consideration of VAT risks and opportunities within the LG group context.


Qualifications

• Professional Finance qualification is required.

• In-depth knowledge of UK indirect taxes is essential (knowledge of EU indirect taxes is a plus).

• Proven experience in VAT, particularly in sectors such as telecommunications, trade working capital management, and cross-border transactions.
