Site Engineer and Section Engineer Job Description

VGC is seeking a skilled Site Engineer or Section Engineer to join our team on a long-term contract position. The successful candidate will have previous experience in rail and bridges projects and will be responsible for setting out and monitoring, reviewing and managing ITPs and WPPs, and raising technical queries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Setting out and monitoring
  • Reviewing and managing ITPs and WPPs
  • Raising of technical queries
  • Managing and working with subcontractors
  • Updating as-built drawings
Section Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Weekly look-ahead programmes and work schedules
  • Progress reports
  • Quality records (technical queries, setting out and dimensional controls, formation approvals, reinforcement records, concrete pour records, drainage inspection records, instrument calibration checks, etc.)
  • Temporary works design briefs, crane studies, and permits to load
  • Daily site diaries
  • Records of verbal instructions
  • Lost time, daywork, etc.
  • Behavioural safety observation

The ideal candidate will have a Civil Engineering degree and experience in managing a section site engineering team. A SMSTS card and Temporary works knowledge are desirable.
