Job Description

Role Overview

This is a part-time, 20-hour per week role based in Coventry. The successful candidate will provide high-quality support to women and children affected by domestic abuse.

Main Responsibilities

  1. To provide direct support and assistance day and night to meet the needs of women and their children experiencing violence/abuse, maximizing their physical, mental, and social wellbeing by providing an environment that is confidential, safe, supportive, and respects the dignity and individuality of each resident.
  2. To assist the Senior Services Manager and work collectively as part of a team to participate in the day-to-day running of the supported refuge accommodation to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  3. Identify and develop support strategies to meet the needs of women and children affected by domestic abuse in all forms, seeking support across services.
  4. Provide high quality case work, 1:2:1 support, and advice to victims/survivors who are/have experienced domestic abuse.
  5. Provide safety planning and undertake regular risk and needs assessments.
  6. Work with women to identify their support needs and incorporate these into women's Individual Support Plans.
  7. Lead on referrals into the community team, developing and delivering a range of support services to women and their children.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. Good general level of education.
  2. Good knowledge of domestic abuse issues and the statutory framework.
  3. Good understanding of referral processes.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good relationships with colleagues, volunteers, outside agencies, and users of the service.
  5. Ability to speak at least one of the following languages: Urdu, Hindi, Mirpuri, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali, Farzi, Pushtu, or African languages, in particular Somalian, is desirable.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £12,012.27 per annum (£22,523 per annum FTE). The role offers a part-time, permanent position with a work pattern of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
