Heathside School: Governance Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our Local Advisory Board (LAB) at Heathside School in Weybridge. As a member of the LAB, you will play a crucial role in supporting the school's leadership team in its mission to provide an outstanding education to over 1250 pupils.

The LAB is responsible for challenging and supporting the leadership team to deliver the school improvement plan, ensuring that standards are being raised, and that outcomes and progress of students continue to improve. You will work closely with the Trustee Board to make informed decisions and ensure that all funds are spent to maximize impact for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Challenge and support the leadership team to deliver the school improvement plan
  2. Act on behalf of the Trustees to ensure that standards are being raised, and that outcomes and progress of students continue to improve
  3. Engage with the Trustee Board to support them in making informed decisions
  4. Work in conjunction with Trustees to ensure that all funds are spent to maximize impact for students

Time Commitment:

  1. Six face-to-face meetings at the school per year during the week
  2. Annual conference on a Saturday
  3. One 'learning walk' at the school per term
  4. Ad hoc activities such as involvement in key staff recruitment or appraisal/exclusion panels
  5. Participate in distance learning and face-to-face training to increase your knowledge

Support and Training:

A full induction plan is provided, including a mentor and access to independent governance associations offering online training sessions. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and experience in governance, with many individuals finding it rewarding and beneficial for their personal and professional development.
