Senior HSE Specialist Job Description

CV Library is seeking a highly skilled Senior HSE Specialist to join their team. As a key member of the organization, you will be responsible for coordinating all Environment, Health & Safety programs and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate and implement Environment, Health & Safety programs and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  2. Participate in investigations to identify root causes of non-conformances and develop corrective actions.
  3. Provide Health & Safety expertise for new projects and change management activities to ensure a safe working environment.
  4. Develop and implement systems to resolve non-conformances based on root cause analysis.
  5. Ensure relevant technical requirements are understood and complied with in Environment, Health & Safety.
  6. Conduct risk assessments and implement follow-ups to minimize or eliminate accidents or asset losses.
  7. Facilitate the implementation of corrective and preventative actions for EHS.
  8. Ensure facility standards are in compliance with company and government regulations.
  9. Develop and implement training programs to drive a safety-perfect culture and ensure Health & Safety standards are well understood.
  10. Identify gaps in the training agenda and develop courses as appropriate.
  11. Drive key elements of training to management level employees, including Critical Safety Training, Incident Investigations, Permit to Work, Manual Handling, etc.
  12. Ensure contractors have robust Environment, Health and Safety procedures and systems in place.
  13. Lead ethically and model compliant behavior, maintaining an environment where employees can speak up without fear of retaliation.
  14. Act as deputy for the HSE manager when unavailable.
  15. Coach less experienced team members and drive a pipeline of talent within the business.
  16. Budget holder for safety, ensuring financial targets are met.
  17. Develop a pipeline of projects and work alongside the engineering department and operations.
Requirements:
  1. Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and experience working with governing bodies.
  2. Understand the importance of building a good safety culture and working with stakeholders to drive engagement.
  3. Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  4. Tech-savvy with experience of Windows and ability to adapt to other systems.
  5. Demonstrated ability to create a motivational environment and drive a good health and safety culture.
  6. Technical functional excellence in Health & Safety demonstrated through leadership.
