Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team at Uniting People. This is a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of payroll operations.


About the Role

Salary: £Neg DOE (estimated £40,000 - £60,000 per annum)

This role requires someone who can balance day-to-day payroll activities with supporting the ongoing implementation of the new ADP system.


Key Responsibilities
  • Process and verify employee payroll accurately and in compliance with UK legislation.
  • Manage all payroll-related adjustments, including bonuses, overtime, deductions, and statutory payments.
  • Collaborate with the implementation team to finalise the migration to the ADP platform, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct parallel runs and assist in testing payroll processes within ADP.
  • Identify and escalate implementation issues, working with internal teams and ADP consultants to resolve them.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with HMRC regulations and company policies.
  • Generate payroll reports for internal stakeholders and external auditing as required.
  • Assist in preparing P60s, P45s, and other statutory documents.
  • Respond to employee queries related to payroll, benefits, and tax matters.
  • Provide training and support to employees on the new ADP system, where required.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve accuracy.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in payroll administration, ideally within a medium-to-large company.
  • Familiarity with ADP systems or similar payroll platforms is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll regulations, including tax codes, pensions, and statutory payments.
  • Excellent numerical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
