Senior Lead - Residential Children's Home
Location: South London
Hours: 37.5-40 hours per week
Salary: up to £30,160 per annum.
Shifts: 10-12 hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays, with overtime paid at an hourly rate.

We are seeking a Senior Lead who can build strong relationships with clients while delivering exceptional service. As a Senior Lead, you will play a key role in overseeing the supervision and care of children and managing the day-to-day operations within the home. A background in working in residential children's homes or supported accommodation settings is essential.

This is a challenging yet rewarding role, where you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people. You must be willing to go above and beyond to ensure that they experience a childhood filled with fun, laughter, friendship, and discovery. Your team must share this ambition and work together to achieve optimal outcomes for the children and young people in our care.

The key responsibilities of this role include:
  • Support and manage staff to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people.
  • Undertake direct work with children and young people as necessary.
  • Manage child protection concerns and complaints.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to achieve best outcomes for young people.
  • Offer supervision and support to other staff in line with quality standards.

Candidates should possess:
  1. 1-2 years' experience working with young people in a residential setting.
  2. A supportive nature towards young people and staff.
  3. The ability to manage and motivate a team, as well as elicit the best performance from team members.
  4. Creative problem-solving skills.
  5. Counselling and training skills.
  6. The capacity to maintain accurate records and contribute to regular monitoring and evaluation.
  7. Experience of working in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.
  8. Ability to chair children's meetings and facilitate consultation with young people.
  9. Acting as an appropriate adult.
  10. Assisting with the recruitment and retention of staff, including induction training for new staff members.
  11. Developing a management style that balances control and decision-making opportunities for staff.
  12. Taking responsibility for planning shifts and ensuring their smooth operation when on duty.
  13. Offering one-to-one supervision to staff in accordance with quality standards.
  14. Identifying and progressing individual training and development needs of staff in the context of their personnel development plans.
  15. Conducting management investigations when required.
  16. Contributing to the promotion of personal and professional development through the delegation of duties and responsibilities.
  17. Maintaining adherence to the home's policies, procedures, and quality standards requirements.
  18. Ensuring the implementation of reporting and recording systems to comply with quality standards.
  19. Attending to administration tasks and providing weekly management information reports.
  20. Assisting the registered manager in implementing the statement of purpose.
  21. Contributing to the devising, implementing, and evaluating changes to improve services, systems, and standards, in conjunction with the senior management team.
  22. Driving company vehicles, subject to policies and procedures.
  23. Working on a rota basis according to the needs of young people.
  24. Allocating resources effectively and maintaining accurate financial records.
  25. Receiving supervision in line with quality standards and taking responsibility for personal development and progress of individual training needs.
