Inventory Planner Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Inventory Planner to join our team at Ideal Personnel and Recruitment Solutions. As an Inventory Planner, you will play a crucial role in analysing product and sales data to forecast future inventory requirements and achieve maximum stock availability within agreed open to buy constraints.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with brand managers and other stakeholders to establish and review sales forecasts.
  • Analyse sales data, identify trends and patterns in sales by category and by SKU, forecast demand, and manage inventory levels to support forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on stock and purchase commitments against open to buy budgets.
  • Identify current and potential overstocks and work with product and sales teams to adjust as required.
  • Identify potential stock shortages and minimize disruption to service levels.
  • Work with logistics, distribution, product teams, and suppliers to improve and maintain purchasing efficiency.
  • Monitor and report on current and expected availability.
  • Maintain and develop stock and purchase order tracking systems, progress chase suppliers as required.
  • Report on stock and sales as required.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in forecasting and data analysis.
  • Strong commercial understanding.
  • Highly numerate and detail-oriented with the ability to understand and utilize all relevant systems and processes to analyse and report on data.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft packages (especially Excel).
  • Effective people skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across departments.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize a varied workload, and maintain accuracy even when working under pressure.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised.
