About the Role

Certain Advantage, a world-class defence organisation based in Hertfordshire, is seeking a skilled Development and Production Test Engineer - Electronic / Electrical for an initial 6-month contract.

This challenging position requires significant experience with measurement and test principles, along with associated test equipment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in electronic component level fault finding, CADMID product lifecycle for test equipment, and RF and microwave technology at subsystem level.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical support to manufacturing test of weapons sub-systems in production and development test and diagnostics of complex weapons at system and subsystem level.
  2. Offer test engineering support during design/development phases from initial concept through to production readiness review and release to operations.
  3. Support test facility introduction and ensure configuration control of equipment and facilities is in place prior to use, including generating supporting test specifications and operator instructions.
  4. Diagnose production test failures down to circuit card and potentially component level.
  5. Evaluate technical problems to develop proposals for test equipment investigations and corrective actions, including process improvements.
  6. Represent test engineering at defect review board meetings to ensure efficient progress of equipment and quality notifications towards corrective action.

Requirements:

  • HNC/HND (Electronics) Level of Qualifications or equivalent, plus good level of experience in digital & analogue electronics manufacture and test.
  • A good understanding of measurement and test principles, and associated test equipment.
  • An understanding of the typical CADMID product lifecycle for test equipment is desirable.
  • An understanding of RF and microwave technology at subsystem level would be an advantage.
  • An understanding of Environmental testing (including ESS) would also be an advantage.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including generation of test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports based on higher-level requirements.
  • The ability to plan and organise own work in order to ensure multiple tasks can be prioritised and delivered against Project objectives.

Salary and Benefits

The hourly rate for this role is £36.00 per hour, paid on an umbrella basis.
