SEM-H Teaching Assistant Role

About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in our Westminster school. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring each student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support to students with SEMH needs, fostering a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement effective learning strategies.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting support as necessary to meet their unique needs.
  • Manage and support students with diverse behavioural and learning needs, promoting a culture of respect and empathy.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people in a SEN school setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting student development, with a focus on safety and well-being.
  • A current enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for a new one, with a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
