Head of Veterinary Operations

London, Greater London, United Kingdom The Mayhew Animal Home Full time
About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled veterinary professional to lead our clinical team at The Mayhew Animal Home. As Head of Clinic, you will be responsible for managing a small team of veterinarians and nurses, providing high-quality care to our centre animals and pets in the local community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a small clinical team, ensuring high standards of care and adherence to best practices.
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the clinic, including surgeries, diagnostics, and administrative tasks.
  • Provide hands-on veterinary care, with time allocated for management and administrative duties.
  • Advise the charity on veterinary matters and contribute to shaping future programs.
  • Work independently and manage your own time effectively.

About You:

  • Registered with the MRCVS with at least 5 years of clinical experience.
  • Confident in routine first-opinion surgeries and diagnostics.
  • Experienced in leadership and management, ideally with experience running a clinic.
  • Flexible, with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Comfortable working in sole charge when necessary.

Why This Role?

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Director or Senior Clinician looking for a more senior role in a charity environment. You'll gain valuable experience in how charities operate while making a real difference in the lives of animals and their owners.

We offer a great work-life balance, with a 35-hour workweek. Our clinic is open Monday to Saturday, so some Saturday and Bank Holiday work is required. There is also a very light on-call requirement, limited to the animals in our care, with additional pay for on-call duties.

Please note that successful candidate(s) will be asked to evidence their Right to Work in the UK post-job offer – we do not hold a sponsor licence therefore we are unable to provide Visa sponsorship.
