SEMH Teaching Assistant Job Description

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide essential support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in Emsworth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop lesson plans that cater to the curriculum and key stages.
  • Offer tailored support to students with SEMH needs, facilitating their engagement in classroom activities.
  • Work with students individually or in small groups to enhance their learning outcomes.
  • Promote a positive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Contribute to tracking student development in collaboration with teachers and other educational staff.
  • Provide regular progress updates to teachers and parents.
  • Motivate and guide students towards achieving their personal and academic goals.
Requirements:
  • CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Education, or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or as an SEMH Teaching Assistant is essential.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A passion for helping students succeed both personally and academically.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
