Deputy Director of Strategy and Policy

Contract Type: Permanent

This role will lead the development and implementation of a strategic approach for the Office for National Statistics (ONS) across its policy, planning, and delivery activities. The successful postholder will operate across the ONS system to support effective delivery, working closely with the Authority Board, the Chief Executive, and the Director General of the Office for Statistics Regulation to achieve all strategic aims of the ONS.

The postholder will also be responsible for managing the private offices that support our leaders and will serve as the Head of Policy Profession in the ONS. This involves providing intellectual and organisational leadership across the business areas, ensuring a focus on quality, and synthesising multiple priorities into strategic action.

We are seeking an individual with outstanding stakeholder management skills and a proven track record of successful strategic development in a complex organisation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of how data, analysis, and statistics are delivered across government to enhance the efficacy of policy creation and inform users of statistics through intelligent transparency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic approach for the ONS across its policy, planning, and delivery activities
