Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner. This is a 2-year fixed term contract, during which you will undertake an intensive 1-year Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) training programme at the University of East Anglia.

As a Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner, you will work closely with a team of mental health professionals to deliver evidence-informed interventions in education settings. You will be supported to develop and practice evidence-based skills under clinical supervision to work directly with children, young people, and families.

The role will involve:

  1. Working closely with a team to deliver a range of interventions, including guided self-help and parenting interventions.
  2. Developing and practicing evidence-based skills to work directly with children, young people, and families.
  3. Carrying out holistic and child-centred mental health assessments, including risk assessments.
  4. Learning behavioural and cognitive behavioural guided self-help techniques to support children, young people, and their families.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the ability to work at university degree level, with a proven record of previous learning or formal study in child development, wellbeing, or mental health. You will also need to have experience of working with children, young people, and their families, as well as experience of working with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  1. University degree level or equivalent experience.
  2. Proven record of previous learning or formal study in child development, wellbeing, or mental health.
  3. Experience of working with children, young people, and their families.
  4. Experience of working with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders.

We offer a comprehensive induction programme, including mandatory training, systems training, and the allocation of equipment. You will also have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes.

Please note: This is a training position subject to a 2-year fixed term contract. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to the University of East Anglia in the first year to complete their training.
