As a seasoned professional, you will oversee the receipt and timely preparation of samples, ensuring their integrity is maintained for subsequent processing in the Haematology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology laboratories.

Key responsibilities include supervising Medical Laboratory Assistants, accurate patient data entry, and maintaining stock levels of consumables. You will also be responsible for greeting visitors, dealing with problems associated with sample processing, and preparing samples for analysis in a timely and accurate manner.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

1. Specimen reception and preparation of blood and other body fluids and samples
2. Supervising MLA staff and maintaining stock levels of consumables
3. Rotating staff and ensuring adequate shift cover
4. Coordinating training for MLA staff and addressing HR issues
5. Coordinating and prioritising work within the pre-analytical area
6. Managing the pre and post-analytic elements of the Siemens Aptio track system
7. Dealing with problems associated with sample processing
8. Greeting and dealing with visitors to the department
