Job Description:

The Senior Mechanical Project Lead role at Austin Fraser is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned project manager to lead our mechanical engineering team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing design, construction, commissioning, and implementation of contracts to ensure efficiency, timely delivery, and budget adherence while prioritizing health and safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning: Arrange and chair collaborative planning sessions with stakeholders, fostering open communication and ensuring all parties are aligned with project objectives.
  • Engineering and Supply Chain Coordination: Coordinate with engineering and supply chain partners to ensure seamless execution of projects, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Risk Management: Manage the risk register, provide regular updates, and assist with early warnings and variation management, maintaining a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Report near misses, unsafe conditions, accidents, and incidents to Health & Safety, Design, and Construction teams, upholding our commitment to a safe working environment.
  • Cost Management: Work closely with the Project Quantity Surveyor to generate cost plans, monitor project out-turn costs, and report variations, ensuring financial transparency and accountability.
Requirements:
  • Project Management Experience: Proven track record in project management, with a focus on delivering high-profile projects within tight deadlines and budgets.
  • Contractual Expertise: Experience with NEC3 contract form, demonstrating knowledge of contractual obligations and best practices.
  • Delivery-Driven Mindset: Strong delivery-driven experience, with a focus on setting and monitoring targets and programmes, driving project success.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the Water industry (non-infrastructure), understanding the unique challenges and opportunities within this sector.
