Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Officer to join our team at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Medical Officer, you will be responsible for providing cross-cover for leave with other senior medical staff and carrying out both scheduled and urgent clinical work to support clinical need and patient safety.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in general adult psychiatry and will be able to lead on the interface with primary care and ensure an effective interface with the Acute Care Pathway. They will also be responsible for managing risk and weighing complex risk information to deliver care that is in the best interests of the recovery of the individual.

The successful candidate will have a CCT in general adult psychiatry or equivalent through CESR route and will be eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 12 months of CCT at time of interview. They will also have prior experience of working with detained patients as a senior trainee, associate specialist or consultant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide cross-cover for leave with other senior medical staff
