About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Cavendish Nuclear, part of Babcock International Group. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in driving commercial value and operational excellence across our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide commercial management and support to Quantity Surveyors, as well as commercial expertise to projects, covering a range of activities including bid governance, reviews, change management, and compensation event contractual notices.
  • Undertake internal compliance, liaising with the relevant Head of Commercial and customers as required, and support Commercial Managers with all commercial aspects on the project.
  • Gain a full understanding of head contract terms and conditions and ensure contract compliance exists, proposing and monitoring correction plans to eliminate non-compliance.
  • Construct and deliver a robust procurement project plan that meets project objectives, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met, and necessary communications and risk mitigations are in place.
  • Ensure disallowed costs are minimized, and enhance and utilize sourcing and tendering processes that meet and exceed project/programme deliverables.
  • Manage post-contract commercial management of subcontracts during project execution phases and mitigate business exposure to subcontractor claims.
  • Ensure all Supplier/Subcontractor compensation events/claims are adequately justified, rationally explained, and recorded to support potential head contract CE's/variations and sustain audit both externally and internally.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Building Services Quantity Surveying or a general degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Significant experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
  • Experience in managing business stakeholders to meet milestones and deliverables.
  • Good understanding of day-to-day commercial administration in the Engineering and Construction industries.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects at any given time.
  • Evidence of delivering on accountabilities and driving the commercial agenda.
  • Experience in delivering to project commercial strategy and large and complex contracts and bids.
  • Experience in supporting large-scale projects and complex change initiatives using appropriate methodologies.
  • Excellent NEC3 skills.
