We are seeking a visionary Research Director - Cyber Resilience to spearhead our thought leadership initiatives and contribute meaningfully to our ISTARI Academy programming. This role will position ISTARI as a global leader in cybersecurity expertise by producing impactful research, publishing high-quality insights, and delivering educational content to boards, executives, and cyber leaders.

You will also leverage the collective expert wisdom of our broader network. We partner with Cambridge Judge Business School, Oxford Said Business School, Singapore Management University and the National University of Singapore, alongside other leading organisations and think tanks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead an original primary research agenda aligned with ISTARI's mission to advance cybersecurity knowledge and resilience from the c-suite to the board.
  • Produce high-quality thought leadership content, including whitepapers, reports, articles, and industry insights, showcasing ISTARI's expertise.
  • Monitor global cybersecurity trends, emerging threats, and regulatory developments to inform research priorities and insights for clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and academic institutions to enrich research output and amplify its impact.

Academy Programmes and Education

  • Contribute as a faculty member and subject matter expert to ISTARI Academy's educational programmes, co-designing and co-delivering engaging sessions for cyber leaders, executives, and boards.
  • Design, enhance and contribute to curricula that address the latest cybersecurity challenges, best practices, and strategic frameworks.
  • Develop case studies, simulations, and interactive content to enhance the learning experience for participants.

Board Training and Engagement

  • Conduct tailored board training sessions to educate and empower directors on the business implications of cybersecurity.
  • Simplify complex cybersecurity concepts for non-technical audiences, enabling strategic decision-making at the board level.
  • Partner with clients to customise training materials to address specific organisational needs and industry contexts.

Industry Engagement and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with ISTARI's advisory and client engagement teams to ensure research aligns with client needs and market demands.
  • Represent ISTARI at industry events, conferences, and webinars as a speaker or panellist, further establishing the firm's reputation as a thought leader.
  • Foster partnerships and relationships with universities, think tanks, national cyber agencies and policy makers, global enterprises and industry bodies to amplify ISTARI's research capabilities and influence.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly experienced professional with:

Experience

  • 10+ years experience with a proven track record in cybersecurity research, thought leadership, insights generation, or related fields.
  • Experience publishing thought leadership content in recognised industry outlets.
  • Demonstrated expertise in lecturing, training, or public speaking, particularly for senior audiences such as boards and executives.
  • Familiarity with the intersection of cybersecurity, business strategy, and risk management.
  • Experience designing and delivering educational or training programmes, particularly for executives / boards, is ideal.
  • Experience working with or advising boards on cybersecurity topics is highly desirable.

Skills

  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, industry trends, emerging threats, and best practices.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify and demystify complex topics for diverse audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills to interpret trends, data, and research findings.
