Venesky-Brown, a leading public sector organisation in the West of Scotland, is seeking an experienced iTrent Payroll Systems Administrator for a 6-month contract. This remote-based role offers a competitive rate of £45,000 per annum.

Key Responsibilities
  1. System Development and Implementation: Assist the Finance Manager and Payroll Team Leader in developing relevant services and service plans by working collaboratively with colleagues and taking personal responsibility for planning their effective delivery. Support the implementation and operation of the iTrent Payroll System, ensuring its smooth functioning and high-quality Payroll and Pension services.
  2. Planning and Coordination: Plan and coordinate the implementation of new working practices and systems to ensure appropriate configuration parameters and user access rights are set up. Develop training and testing requirements to meet operational needs while allowing for efficient usage procedures.
  3. Change Management: Assist in planning to ensure the smooth implementation of any changes to the iTrent Payroll System, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Service Delivery and Quality
  1. Procedure Development and Maintenance: Support the Finance Manager and Payroll Team Leader in delivering high-quality services and best value to service users by ensuring all agreed plans are implemented efficiently and effectively. Assist in developing and delivering procedures for use in relation to the effective operation of the iTrent Payroll System.
  2. System Configuration and Maintenance: Configure and maintain relevant modules, setting up and maintaining configuration parameters and user access rights. Use systems analysis and programming techniques to support the maintenance and enhancement of the payroll system.
  3. Integration and Testing: Coordinate and liaise with relevant staff to test new releases of software and manage availability of the test system to meet requirements for training and testing. Set up integration requirements and test for integration with other systems as required.
  4. Fault Resolution and Development: Resolve faults if possible and refer any that cannot be resolved to the suppliers and/or the organisation's IT Service Desk as appropriate. Develop specifications for payroll systems functionality for development by other suppliers as necessary.
  5. Meetings and Communication: Participate in meetings with other users of the payroll system.
Project Assistance and Training
  1. Project Support: Assist the Finance Manager and Payroll Team Leader with the development of the payroll system systems by acting as project assistant for change projects involving payroll systems.
  2. Communication and Training: Develop and implement communications plans to support change projects, develop and implement testing programmes, and deliver and develop training and guidance materials to support change projects in relation to systems development.
  3. Training Delivery: Co-ordinate training delivery from consultants and develop skills to train directly and train staff to act as trainers on the iTrent Payroll System, covering both procedures and system usage.
  4. Reporting and Budgeting: Work with the Finance Manager, Payroll Team Leader, and colleagues in other services to develop reporting and regular management information in a user-friendly format supporting the development and maintenance of catalogues for reporting. Assist in managing relevant budgets, ensuring expenditure is within allocated budget limits at all times and accurate financial records are maintained.
  5. Performance Management: Support the Finance Manager and Payroll Team Leader in developing, implementing, and maintaining appropriate performance management reporting systems to manage and monitor the team's performance, ensuring standards are maintained, improvements developed, and issues addressed in a timely manner.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • SCQF level 6 (3 Highers or equivalent) ideally in maths or computing.
  • Experience working with complex systems and databases.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office packages at an advanced level.
  • Demonstrate organisational competencies at level 2 including customer focus, systems administration experience, and working knowledge of iTrent Payroll System.
