About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Vistry Group PLC. As a key member of our Commercial department, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of our residential development projects in the South West region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the compilation of tender packages for sub-contract trades and analyze tender levels to ensure compliance with budget and program requirements.
  • Liaise with the Build Department to monitor sub-contractors' performance and compliance with order conditions.
  • Assist in the production of sub-contract orders and ensure accurate forecasting and site budget information to meet business reporting requirements.
  • Control and report post-contract cost movements to provide monthly reporting as required by the Commercial Manager.
  • Process invoices and applications for payments in accordance with Standard Terms and Conditions of Contract.
  • Advise management of impending claims or legal actions arising from disputed claims or payments from sub-contractors/service providers.
  • Assist in determining sub-contract orders in accordance with Standard Terms and Conditions of Employment and liaise with the Build Department.
  • Manage site project administration, including orders, variations, valuations, and settle variation invoices/applications for payment.
  • Certify retention releases on completion of projects and assist in the preparation and agreement of sub-contract final accounts.
  • Maintain necessary systems to efficiently file and retrieve information and ensure open lines of communication with colleagues in other regions.

Requirements

  • HNC/degree qualified in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of building regulations and legal obligations.
  • Strong mathematical and IT ability, with good knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with ability to work under pressure and accept criticism of work.
  • Good team working skills, with accurate attention to detail and methodical approach.
  • Desirable: HND/degree in Construction, Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, or working towards full membership, or COINS systems management knowledge.
