Assistant Commercial Finance Director

South Kesteven District Council is seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Commercial Finance Manager to join their team.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will provide leadership and management of the Council's Finance services, including accountancy, payroll, governance, and risk. They will work closely with the Corporate Management Team and Cabinet Members to deliver a transformational growth agenda in the district.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead an efficient, effective, and modern finance service, guiding and managing the operation and activities of the Finance, Audit, and Procurement teams.
- Embed a modern, forward-thinking approach to financial management across the organisation, including developing a profit and loss culture and improving financial understanding and agility at all levels.
- Provide professional expertise to the finance and revenues service and corporate management team, working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive and Section 151 Officer.
- Manage change, including supporting teams in a positive, influential, and resilient way while taking customer impact into account.
- Experience of leading a professional finance department or business unit in a local government environment or multifunctional commercial organisation.
- Experience of advising and supporting Director level officers and members on financial issues.
- Experience in a Head of department role in a financial service.
- Experience in managing and monitoring budgets.
- CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant.
- Current driving licence or ability to make suitable alternative arrangements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of delivering financial transformation and improvement, with excellent leadership and management skills. They will be able to communicate complex financial information effectively and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
