Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and service-oriented professional to join our team as a Customer Service Generalist in the Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for handling various customer transactions, including communicating policies, procedures, and regulations, issuing IDs, processing applications, and administering vision, driver, and in-car road tests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to DMV customers
  • Communicate policies, procedures, and regulations to customers
  • Issue IDs and process applications
  • Administer vision, driver, and in-car road tests
  • Process diverse vehicle registrations and titling, tax collection, and other DMV-related services

Requirements:

  • Customer service experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience using a personal computer or other automated systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience handling cash/credit card transactions
  • Flexibility to work M-F and Saturday
  • Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
  • Must have attention to detail, accuracy, and complete assignments on time
  • Must be at least 21 years old and have a valid VA Driver's License with a driving record that reflects a sense of responsibility for highway safety and concern for the law
  • Driving record should have a point balance of less than 6 demerit points and no major convictions
  • Experience working in a team or group environment
  • Experience interpreting and explaining complex policies and procedures
  • Can lift 10 – 25 pounds
