Job Title: Costs Draftsman
Salary: £35,000 - £50,000
Overview:
Pearson Whiffin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Costs Draftsman to join their team of costs specialists in their Legal Aid department. As a Costs Draftsman, you will be responsible for managing your own caseload while working closely with a team of Cost Experts. Your key responsibilities will include drafting points of dispute, negotiating cost settlements, reviewing case files, and advising lawyers on cost-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting Points of Dispute: Prepare and submit points of dispute to opposing parties, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Negotiating Cost Settlements: Engage in negotiations with opposing parties to reach mutually acceptable cost settlements.
- Reviewing Case Files: Conduct thorough reviews of case files to identify potential cost-related issues.
- Advising Lawyers on Cost-Related Matters: Provide expert advice to lawyers on cost-related matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements:
- Previous Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Costs Draftsman handling Legal Aid based work.
- Strong Knowledge: A strong understanding of costs law and the Civil Procedure Rules.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with lawyers, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
