Job Summary:

  • Lead and develop a highly specialized nutrition and dietetic service for patients receiving Parenteral Nutrition (PN) at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.
  • Act as the lead source of knowledge and expertise in Parenteral Nutrition support.
  • Line manage dietitians and support staff within the Surgical/Gastroenterology/Hepatology team.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a Trust-wide dietetic service.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide highly complex advice to IF patients, including the interpretation of biochemical, haematological, faecal, and anthropometric measurements.
  • Lead a specialist dietitian outpatient service for all home PN patients.
  • Attend MDT meetings and provide dietetic advice to patients, nursing, and medical staff.
  • Conduct nutritional assessments and implement individualized, evidence-based interventions.
  • Participate in PN ward rounds and contribute to the maintenance of Trust-wide PN policy and guidelines.

Person Specification:

  • Demonstrate extensive clinical practice post-registration experience in gastrointestinal surgery and intestinal failure.
  • Have experience working in a multidisciplinary team and advanced knowledge of Parenteral Nutrition.
  • Hold a BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent qualification, and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
