Energy Data Analyst Job Description

Lane Clark & Peacock LLP is seeking a skilled Energy Data Analyst to join our team in the short-term energy markets practice.

This is an exciting opportunity to:

  • Work closely with the Power Trading team to develop and maintain our market-leading platform Enact, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of clients and the market.
  • Contribute to the creation of insightful data analysis and market expertise, helping to keep our clients and team ahead of the competition.
  • Be at the forefront of a rapidly evolving sector within the energy transition, driving innovation and growth.
  • Become a recognized thought leader in GB and European power markets, sharing expertise and knowledge with clients and industry peers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coding on and shaping the direction of our short-term power analytics and forecasting tool Enact, identifying and solving real-world challenges for traders, asset owners, and other market participants.
  • Developing cutting-edge visualizations to support our growing suite of tools that Enact works with, ensuring seamless integration and user experience.
  • Collaborating with Engineering, Infrastructure, Web, and Delivery teams to stay on top of the latest technology trends and advancements.
  • Conducting in-depth data analysis and research on the GB power market sector, producing meaningful and consolidated metrics and content for the market.
  • Monitoring market trends and events, leveraging our market-leading short-term power markets tool Enact to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Attending market webinars and events, summarizing key information to help clients stay informed about market design changes.
  • Engaging in face-to-face and telephone discussions with industry experts and professionals to stay updated on market developments and trends.
  • Tracking the dynamics of the balancing, wholesale, and frequency response markets to identify opportunities and challenges for our clients.
  • Working closely with the Enact, Modelling, and Energy Economics and Finance teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding of market dynamics and policy changes.
  • Communicating with clients and subscribers through presentations and calls, providing tailored solutions and expertise.
  • Building relationships with industry contacts on behalf of the company, developing client relationships and contributing to the growth of the business.
  • Becoming a thought leader, identifying trends and sharing insights on short-term energy markets to drive business growth and innovation.
