About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Procurement to join our team at High Speed Two (HS2). As a key member of our Commercial Strategy team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of our procurement strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a link between the Commercial Strategy team and the Supply Chain & Logistics team, facilitating effective communication and alignment of objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of commercial strategies and plans, working closely with the Supply Chain & Logistics team.
  • Coordinate procurement strategies with the Supply Chain & Logistics team, identifying potential issues or risks in the development of new commercial strategies.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on team alignment and progress.
  • Manage internal and external SCM resources, ensuring the effective delivery of procurement strategies.
  • Support the HS2 professional development process, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Assure formal SCM reports and manage the SCM portfolio, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Prepare the industry for HS2 procurement, conducting market sounding exercises and supporting SCM delivery.
  • Maintain SCM data and tools, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Report in accordance with SCM programme governance, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Represent HS2 at industry events and conferences, promoting our procurement strategies and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in procurement and supply chain management, with a strong understanding of commercial and contract delivery lifecycles.
  • Excellent analytical, commercial, and negotiating skills, with the ability to engage effectively with supply chain and industry bodies.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to write reports and present to senior management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to manage meeting calendars and coordinate events.
  • Membership of CIPS, IACCM, or equivalents, with a strong understanding of procurement and commercial tools.
