Lead Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Derby. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for coordinating and leading a team of manufacturing and planning engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and distribute work across the team, working closely with the commercial manager
  • Train and develop staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively
  • Attend team leader meetings to discuss progress and address any issues
  • Project manage new projects in partnership with the commercial and engineering team
  • Lead the manufacturing and planning engineers to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Build relationships with customers and suppliers to ensure smooth delivery of projects
  • Organise and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and components
  • Calculate cost estimates for projects and set up new Bill of Materials, sales orders, and production routings
Requirements:
  • Background in precision engineering - machining/fabrication
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Competence in Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Project
  • Good working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
  • Project Management Experience
  • Capable of working unsupervised and using own initiative
  • Confident communicator
  • Lean Manufacturing background
