Job Title: Advocacy Solicitor

Job Description:

This esteemed law firm is renowned for its unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional advocacy services, particularly in the realm of social housing. With a strong focus on assisting both landlords and tenants, they offer comprehensive support on a wide range of housing issues, including homelessness, disrepair, eviction, succession, neighbourhood problems, debt issues, and possession proceedings.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Reporting directly to the Department Director
  • Overseeing all aspects of Housing work and providing technical guidance to team members as needed
  • Managing a diverse caseload and ensuring timely resolution of complex cases
  • Assisting with casework, including handling public and private housing cases, such as homelessness and neighbourhood problems
  • Attending clients, taking instructions, and preparing cases
  • Handling correspondence and maintaining accurate time-costing procedures
  • Implementing recommendations from supervisors and ensuring compliance with file management

Key Skills:

  • Valid Practising Certificate
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proven supervisory experience and working knowledge of key performance indicators
  • Excellent client care skills and ability to handle sensitive client matters
  • Working knowledge of publicly funded Housing work
  • Extensive experience in Housing-related work
  • Advocacy experience is an asset
