Job Summary

TCAT-Shelbyville is seeking a part-time evening instructor to teach essential reading, writing, and math skills to students. The ideal candidate will have a postsecondary degree in education or a related field and 3+ years of experience teaching essential skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and stable learning environment
  • Utilize in-class assessment tools to measure student achievement
  • Administer and proctor tests for students
  • Record and submit grades and attendance using Banner
  • Distribute student syllabus and provide guidance on course progress and academic issues

Requirements

  • Postsecondary degree in education or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience teaching essential skills
  • Ability to administer tests and maintain certification
  • Travel to Shelbyville and Winchester campuses

Preferred Qualifications

  • Classroom experience and administrative experience in workforce education and competency-based training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs and other basic computer software
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions

Working Conditions

The part-time evening instructor will work in coordination with a full-time Technology Foundations instructor, teaching and guiding students in the areas of essential reading, writing, and math skills. This work is essential to preparing students to succeed in their chosen programs of study.

Hourly Wage

$25-$30 per hour, commensurate with experience and TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
