MEP Coordinator Job Description

We are seeking an experienced MEP Coordinator to join our team at Hays Specialist Recruitment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing all M&E activities for assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all M&E activities for assigned projects, including appointing, managing, and monitoring the progress of MEP consultants, designers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure the design meets all contract deliverables, maximises commercial opportunities, and that all design information and technical submissions are released according to the project construction programme and procurement schedule.
  • Negotiate and manage consultants and designer appointments, and prepare/manage MEP design programmes and schedules.
  • Coordinate MEP services with construction teams, ensuring quality and timeliness, and manage M&E contractors.
  • Review MEP materials for durability and safety, and ensure design information is clear, complete, and compliant.
  • Organise and chair technical meetings with the design team and supply chain and attend client meetings to report on MEP design progress.
  • Review tender drawings, assist the estimating team, and manage MEP RFI, DAR, and sample approval processes.
  • Oversee BREEAM tracker compliance, provide technical and commercial support to the project surveyor, and compile project handover documentation.
  • Oversee validation, commissioning, and client training, and participate in pre-tender submissions and client interviews.
  • Maintain accurate project records, ensure compliance with building regulations and safety requirements, and maintain quality and environmental control procedures.
  • Mentor team members and continually develop knowledge of innovative construction techniques.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role or MEP Contracts Management.
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrable experience particularly in programming and strong commercial awareness relating to the construction process and M&E installation on high-end projects.
  • A related third-level mechanical or electrical qualification in building services is desirable, however a time-served mechanical/electrical trade background will also be considered.
  • Experience in the use of MS Projects or similar products to create and maintain schedules would be highly desirable.
  • Eligibility to work within the UK, a driving licence, and flexibility to work away from home for periods of time.
