Job Title: Consultant in Renal Medicine

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Renal Medicine to join our team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to the development of renal services.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide in-patient and outpatient care for renal patients, including haemodialysis services.
  • Lead clinical teams and contribute to the development of renal services.
  • Participate in audit programs, morbidity and mortality reviews, and clinical governance initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Trust infection prevention and control policies.
Requirements:
  • Registered with the GMC with a valid license to practice.
  • Completed Specialist Training (or equivalent) and entered on the Specialist Register of the GMC.
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in nephrology and dialysis, with a strong clinical background.
  • Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Experience in teaching and training, with a strong commitment to education.
  • Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months.
  • Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio.
Person Specification:
  • Registered (or eligible to be registered by the date of application) with the GMC with a license to practice.
  • Name on the specialist register for Nephrology or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview.
  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
  • MD or PhD or equivalent.
