About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Dietitian to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. As a Specialist Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing highly specialist nutritional assessment and advice to patients requiring nutritional support, particularly Enteral Nutrition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage own case load to a level agreed with supervisor/line manager.
  • Be involved in the provision of education and training to healthcare staff, patients, care providers and students.
  • Be a key member of the multidisciplinary care team to provide integrated dietetic care.
  • Shows initiative in assisting and supporting the senior specialist dietitians and the chief dietitian in the day to day management of the department.
  • Deliver training to healthcare staff, dietitians and students.
  • Be an active member of the out of hours service.
Person Specification

Qualifications

  • BSc(Hons) Nutrition & Dietetics or Equivalent
  • Experience of working as a Dietitian within a healthcare setting.
  • Attendance on relevant specialist accredited post-graduate courses at post-graduate diploma level or equivalent
  • HCPC registration.

Desirable

  • BDA membership

Skills & behaviours

  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer key board skills.
  • Experience of delivering education and training.
  • Knowledge of dietary analysis programmes.

Practical skills

  • Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy

Experience

  • Knowledge of current issues in Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Demonstrate awareness of specialist dietetic areas.
  • Understanding of clinical governance, risk assessment and continuing quality improvement.

Desirable

  • Has attended Clinical Supervisory Skills Course, or equivalent.
