About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Distribution Centre Operations Manager to join our team at Huws Gray Group. As a key member of our Supply Chain Solutions business, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective distribution of products to our customers and branches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement distribution strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives, including determining the most efficient distribution channels, transportation methods, and warehouse locations.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels to ensure that products are readily available for distribution while avoiding overstocking or understocking issues.
  • Oversee the transportation of goods, which may involve coordinating with carriers, negotiating transportation contracts, and ensuring that safety and security requirements are followed at all times.
  • Optimise warehouse operations, including storage, regulations, and order fulfillment processes.
  • Supervise a team of distribution staff, including warehouse operatives and drivers, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Maintain quality control measures to ensure that products are handled and shipped without damage or defects.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a warehouse/distribution centre environment, preferably as a team leader or supervisor.
  • Comfortable supervising a team in a busy environment, providing leadership and development to the team.
  • Demonstrate a broad knowledge of Health & Safety in the warehousing environment.
  • Experience of using IT systems to manage the day-to-day running of the distribution processes, including stock management, vehicle tracking, and order updates.
  • An understanding of how the courier process works, maximising margin benefits for the business.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with internal teams, external partners, and customers.
  • Creative initiative with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, both externally and internally.
  • Good presentation and communication skills.
  • Versatile and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
  • PC Literacy Skills – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Passion for delivering 'Right First Time' solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimise distribution processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, customer demands, and industry trends.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order fulfillment and quality control.
