Job Title: Technical Manager

Job Summary:

Bilfinger UK is seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to join our Automation team in Chesterfield. As a Technical Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and quality assurance to our team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and quality leadership to the Automation team
  • Work closely with the Head of Automation, Project Managers, and Engineering teams
  • Ensure the successful delivery of technical aspects of projects
  • Line manage engineers, including appraisals, PDPs, and development planning
  • Provide technical assurance and quality assurance
  • Carry out project surveillance audits and ensure engineers follow best practice guidelines
  • Train the team on quality systems and review and update quality systems
  • Play an active role in internal and external audits
  • Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
  • Support the development and execution of project strategies
  • Maintain awareness of new technologies and identify training and recruitment requirements
  • Manage OEM partnerships and support business development teams

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in integrated control system solutions
  • Experience of delivering engineering projects in various industries
  • Broad multi-vendor technical knowledge
  • Experience in Technical Management or equivalent technical lead role
  • Experience of line management and development of engineers
  • Experience of working with multidiscipline project teams
  • Experience of providing Health and Safety and Compliance leadership
  • Detailed experience of the full project life cycle
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Experience of working within and supporting the continuous improvement of a Quality system

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of ISO 27001, ISO 9001, and TickIT plus standards
  • Knowledge of Industry standards such as ISA95, IEC62443, IEC61511, IEC61508, IEC61131, and IEC61499
  • A thorough practical appreciation of control panels, electrical installation, and Instrumentation solutions
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Industry 4.0 solutions experience

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, or relevant discipline
  • Chartered Engineer with Engineering Council (IET or equivalent professional body)
