About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing company that values innovation, quality, and sustainability. As the Health and Safety Manager, you will play a key role in shaping the company’s safety culture and environmental performance at the Derby site.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing HSE policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and company standards.
  • Conducting regular risk assessments and safety audits, ensuring prompt corrective actions where necessary.
  • Managing and mentoring the health and safety team, driving improvements across the Derby site.
  • Leading initiatives to enhance manual handling processes and manage risks related to hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS).
  • Chairing the Health and Safety Committee, promoting employee engagement and driving continuous safety improvements.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to meet sustainability targets, particularly in waste reduction and resource management.
  • Ensuring thorough investigations of incidents and accidents, applying lessons learned across the site.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in occupational health and safety.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar HSE management role, ideally within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK HSE legislation, with specific experience in manual handling and HAVS management.
  • Proven ability to implement HSE systems and drive a strong safety culture.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
