About the Role

We are seeking an experienced SEN teaching assistant to support a non-verbal pupil with Down syndrome in a Gloucester-based school.

Job Description

This role involves working with a pupil who predominantly understands Arabic, requiring a candidate with experience in SEN/SEMH and/or pastoral care. The successful applicant will have knowledge of behavioural management and additional SEN/SEMH requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support to the pupil with Down syndrome
  • Implement comprehensive support/intervention programmes for SEND
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure the pupil's needs are met
Requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of support/intervention programmes for SEND
  • Patience and understanding when working with children with special needs
  • Nurturing and kind mindset
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced educational setting
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN
