We are seeking an experienced SEN teaching assistant to support a non-verbal pupil with Down syndrome in a Gloucester-based school.
Job DescriptionThis role involves working with a pupil who predominantly understands Arabic, requiring a candidate with experience in SEN/SEMH and/or pastoral care. The successful applicant will have knowledge of behavioural management and additional SEN/SEMH requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one support to the pupil with Down syndrome
- Implement comprehensive support/intervention programmes for SEND
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure the pupil's needs are met
- Comprehensive knowledge of support/intervention programmes for SEND
- Patience and understanding when working with children with special needs
- Nurturing and kind mindset
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced educational setting
- Previous experience working with children with SEN
