Manchester IT Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IT Technician to join our team at REED Talent Solutions in Manchester. The successful candidate will have a strong background in IT support and experience in working with complex technical issues.
The primary responsibility of this role will be to provide technical support and guidance to the Service Desk, ensuring that all customer requests are resolved efficiently and effectively. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the installation, configuration, upgrade, security, and maintenance of computers, peripheral equipment, software, and IT infrastructure (network, switches, server support, etc.).
The estimated salary for this position is £52,000 - £62,000 per annum, depending on experience. This is a full-time role, 5 days per week, with the main base being in Openshaw but travel required to other sites around Manchester based on demand.
Main Duties:
· Provide technical support and guidance to the Service Desk, ensuring that all customer requests are resolved efficiently and effectively.
· Participate in the installation, configuration, upgrade, security, and maintenance of computers, peripheral equipment, software, and IT infrastructure (network, switches, server support, etc.).
· Act as local onsite technician for specific sites and locations responsible for the speedy diagnosis and resolution of IT faults.
· Resolve IT incidents in accordance with agreed support processes and ensure all incident records are updated in the IT Service Desk system.
· Fulfill service requests and ensure all follow-up actions are updated in the Service Desk system.
· Assist on IT projects and innovations (including testing new technology).
· Participate in IT system design and architecture.
· Diagnose and resolve all hardware/software, desktop & telecoms problems within the agreed SLA's.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Proven experience in IT support and technical troubleshooting.
· Strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and software applications.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Provable experience and support skills in Windows Server, Windows 10, and Mac OS X.
· Remote software distribution system (Windows Deployment Server or equivalent).
· Active Directory, Group Policy, VMware, and general administration skills.
· Assigning rights and determining inherited rights to accounts.
