About the Role

At Sue Ryder, we're seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Fashion Volunteer to join our team in Retail Fashion Alterations and Sewing. As a volunteer, you'll play a vital role in supporting our local community by helping us mend and alter clothing ready for sale in our shop.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for sewing and textiles, with experience in making repairs and alterations. You'll be working closely with our Retail team to transform donated items into sellable goods, utilizing your creative skills and attention to detail.

We estimate that this role is equivalent to an hourly wage of £10-£12 per hour, based on industry standards for similar roles in the UK.

Your Responsibilities

  • Making repairs to clothing, such as fixing buttons, zips, and torn linings.
  • Making alterations to clothing, including altering hems, cuffs, and collars.
  • Assisting customers with alterations and repairs in-store.
  • Undertaking more complex alterations and transforming outfits for those interested in fashion and design.
