About the Role

The Child Protection Specialist will work within the Assessment Team in North Somerset Children's social care, undertaking assessments and investigations to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for building effective relationships with children, young people, and their families, using a strengths-based approach to support them in overcoming challenges and achieving positive outcomes.

You will have a sound knowledge of relevant childcare legislation, including 'Working Together to Safeguard Children' and fostering regulations and legislation.

The role requires a qualified Social Worker with a passion for working with children and their families, and the ability to work in a timely and flexible manner, including out-of-hours when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake assessments and investigations to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people
  • Build effective relationships with children, young people, and their families
  • Use a strengths-based approach to support children and young people in overcoming challenges
  • Work in accordance with relevant childcare legislation

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with a passion for working with children and their families
  • Sound knowledge of relevant childcare legislation
  • Ability to work in a timely and flexible manner
