Campus Caretaker

About the Role:

We are seeking a Campus Caretaker to join our premises team at Gayhurst School. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the school campus, ensuring it remains safe and clean for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities:

• ">
• Maintenance of lawns, hedges, flowerbeds, and planters, including tidying, weeding, planting, watering, pruning, and spraying using strimmers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, etc.">
• Cutting, marking, and general maintenance of all pitches (grass and all-weather) and playing fields, ensuring they are safe and clean for constant use.">
• Ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and stored safely and securely.">
• Safe application of chemicals, taking into account COSHH and Health & Safety regulations and with regard to weather and events.">
• Drive vehicles and equipment (including tractor) as required for grounds maintenance operations.">
• Assisting with snow and ice clearance during extreme weather conditions, ensuring the site is safe and accessible.">
• Supporting sustainability and school eco/garden clubs, offering expertise where possible.">

Requirements:

• ">
• A practical qualification in horticulture/turf maintenance (NVQ2 or City & Guilds level 2).">
• IT literate">
• D1 driving licence (desirable)">
• PA1/PA6 spraying qualification">
• Proven experience in pitch marking and grounds maintenance for a variety of sports (rugby, football, cricket, and athletics most notably).">
• Excellent communication skills, friendly and professional approach to all stakeholders (pupils, parents, and colleagues).">
• Tact, sense of humour, ability to work well with a small team, ability to take direction but also to work on their own initiative.">
• A desire to impress and take pride in the presentation of the school site.">
• A commitment to the welfare and safeguarding of children.">
