About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary liaison service at Homerton University Hospital in Hackney, East London. As a key member of our team, you will provide clinical leadership and work closely with colleagues to deliver high-quality assessment and treatment to adults and older adults attending the hospital's Emergency Department due to mental health concerns.
This is a substantive full-time post, offering an excellent opportunity for a consultant psychiatrist to contribute to the overall management and service development of the service. You will have the chance to develop your clinical and medical leadership skills, working collaboratively with our team manager and service lead to drive improvements in patient care.
About Our Service
Our liaison psychiatry service provides a single point of access available 24/7, supporting patients with mental health conditions, dementia/delirium, substance misuse, and medically unexplained symptoms who present to acute care. We operate within NHS England's 'Core 24' model of liaison psychiatry, ensuring that our patients receive comprehensive and timely support.
Your Responsibilities
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your primary duties will include:
- Providing clinical leadership and working closely with the team manager and service lead to deliver high-quality assessment and treatment to adults and older adults attending the hospital's Emergency Department.
- Contributing to the overall management and service development of the service, driving improvements in patient care and outcomes.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure seamless care pathways and effective communication across disciplines.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with local healthcare partners and stakeholders to enhance service delivery and outcomes.
Your Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months (older adult or dual older adult/adult).
- Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
- MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
- Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
