We are seeking an experienced Commercial / Cost Accountant to join our team at Austin Fraser.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Commercial / Cost Accountant to take on a key role in supporting the delivery of our overall business strategy. The successful candidate will have experience of working within a main contractor on Social Housing refurbishment projects, partnerships, and frameworks.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure that HSE&Q standards, operating processes, company policies, and all legislative requirements are understood, implemented, and adhered to at all times.
- Liaise closely with the Commercial and Business Development Teams and maintain a clear view of the Company's strategy and objectives including bidding and pricing tactics.
- Effectively plan tenders to ensure timely and accurate preparation of tender documentation and pricing information resulting in a quality submission.
- Contribute to effective team collaboration within the wider business, communicating regularly with operations and commercial teams.
- Prepare tenders from architect's drawings, specifications, bill of quantities, pre-priced schedule of rates supplied by the client, including detailing materials necessary for the contract to achieve specification.
- Identify project risks, develop and produce a risk register to assist in the decision-making and cost management process to facilitate the calculation of contingency amount.
- Compile and present statistical data for pricing/bid analysis, interpretation, and explanation of data.
- Ensure tender programmes and specific methods of construction are developed with the technical and operations teams.
- Support the reactive assessment and selection of products and offerings made by the suppliers for incorporation into commercial bid models.
- Manage the tender process to seek and establish project prices from sub-contractors including terms for works to be carried out under the contract.
- Evaluate, engage and negotiate on price documents, assess for accuracy and confirm best value on price and service quality.
Requirements:
- Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and keen to extend knowledge on software packages.
- Good data interrogation skills.
- Organisation and project management skills, able to prioritise.
- Sound knowledge of building construction/maintenance techniques and materials.
- Good legal/contractual knowledge.
- Valid driving licence.
Salary:
The estimated salary for this position is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
