About the Role

UK Atomic Energy Authority is seeking a skilled Plasma Exhaust Physicist to contribute to the future of fusion energy.

This exciting opportunity will see you play a pivotal role in performing experimental data analysis, including supporting modelling, to understand plasma exhaust detachment and the resulting divertor power loads.

You will be working closely with our team to analyze MAST-U divertor spectroscopy and imaging systems, both for your own research and in support of the wider programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report results at science and other regular progress meetings.
  • Disseminate results through conference and peer-reviewed journal papers.

Essential Requirements:

  • PhD level of knowledge of experimental physics or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to carry out detailed analysis of experimental data, use of suitable tools, error analysis, etc.
  • Proficiency with programming languages, e.g. C, FORTRAN, IDL, Python.
  • Proven ability to conduct independent research.
