Job Title: Support Worker

About the Role:

We are seeking a Support Worker to join our team at an independent special school in Trowbridge. The successful candidate will have experience of working with children and young people, and an interest in supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver and evidence parts of individual learning programmes 1:1 or in small groups, including undertaking appropriate risk assessment
  • Maintain an awareness of safeguarding and make this a priority, reporting all concerns promptly
  • Implement strategies to support pupils with Special Educational Needs to access learning throughout the school day, building rapport and being a trusted adult
  • Provide specific and targeted support, depending on individual pupil needs, ensuring safety whilst supporting access to learning activities
  • Encourage the development of strategies for young people to manage behaviour, anger and frustration

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • An interest in supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning
  • An ability to effectively and positively manage challenging behaviour
  • Professional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Good general standard of education (GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in English and Maths) and IT proficiency
  • A clean full driving license

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
