Chesterfield, Derbyshire, United Kingdom fish4.co - Jobboard Full time

Project Engineer, Chesterfield, GBP43,000

A Mechanical Engineer or Electrical Engineer with aspirations of becoming a chartered engineer and engineering signatory is required to be a project engineer for a turnkey engineering business.

Focusing on full product lifecycle projects, the project engineer will deliver everything from R&D, Design, Manufacturing, Test & Commissioning to final acceptance.

The company is a small but established rail engineering supplier, working directly with train operating companies and train owners. The product is unique, robust, and has to work on a number of different platforms, so there is plenty of engineering challenge and variety.

Ultimately, the client is looking to invest in an engineer who wants to be an engineering signatory for the business, allowing their product to operate on the rail. It is seen as a key development position by the board of directors and is therefore an attractive proposition for an engineer who wants to assume responsibility.

The successful candidate will be a minimum HND qualified engineer (ideally degree qualified) and have experience in taking on customer engineering projects and delivering to a satisfactory conclusion in a heavy engineering/transportation arena. The candidate will be able to demonstrate strong internal and external customer communication and be able to highlight where they have taken responsibility for engineering decisions.

  • Lead turnkey engineering projects managing the engineering from cradle to grave.
  • Work with the Engineering Director trained to become an engineering authority.
  • Define and refine specific ideas clarity, coherence, and structure on projects.

Candidate Essentials:

  • A minimum of a National Diploma in Engineering.
  • Previous experience of working within a dual basis heavy engineer environment with strong electrical experience.
  • The ability to work as part of a focused team delivering projects of all sizes and types, with the ability to take responsibility for actions and ensuring delivery of projects on time and on budget.
