Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a special interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia and will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing obstetric procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide anaesthetic services to patients undergoing obstetric procedures, including caesarean sections and other high-risk deliveries.
  • Work closely with obstetricians and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care for patients.
  • Develop and implement clinical guidelines and protocols for obstetric anaesthesia.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and develop strategies for improving patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives within the anaesthetics department.
Requirements
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • CCT in Anaesthesia or equivalent qualification.
  • FRCA or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of high-risk obstetric anaesthesia.
  • Extensive experience in general anaesthesia.
  • Able to deliver services without supervision.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Higher Qualification: ND, PhD, MSc, MRCP.
  • Teaching Qualification.
  • Experience in tertiary level obstetric unit.
  • Experience in both major and day case gynaecological surgery.
  • Perioperative Training.
  • Engagement as an educator.
  • Evidence of experience of service development QIPs.
