Job Title: Buying Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Buying Manager to join our team at The Parklane Group. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for managing and owning the procurement processes for all Group Brands, ensuring the effective and efficient supply of products and services across our property assets.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement and supply chain management, with experience in managing complex procurement processes and negotiating with suppliers. You will be responsible for setting up new processes, consolidating Group records of existing agreements, and handling a variety of projects and engaging with key stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Liaise with key company employees to determine their product and service needs through an established hierarchy of commercial impact.
  2. Perform all procurement activities, including pre-qualification, negotiating supplier agreements, preparation of contracts, and tender management.
  3. Delegate tasks and supervise the work of responsible Purchasing and Procurement Agents within other departments.
  4. Place orders where required and delegation is not possible.
  5. Create, implement, and record standard company processes and procedures accordingly.
  6. Record all organisational service and procurement agreements with financial exposure and impact.
  7. Regularly review and analyse feedback from procurement agreements delivered to departments.
  8. Identify areas for improvement to continually drive performance and business results.
  9. Review current procurement and purchasing tools and bring forward ideas in further automating this using new technologies.
  10. Manage the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of procurement for the organisation.
  11. Develop strong relationships with business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to improve business.
  12. Create policies and procedures for cost risk management and mitigation.
  13. Support initiatives within the charitable foundation where our procurement strengths aid people in the community.
  14. Remain up to date with industry trends and review new technologies where these enhance quality and sustainability of our building assets.
  15. To adhere to all company and statutory health & safety requirements.
  16. To attend any relevant meetings or training courses as requested.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  1. CIPS qualification or equivalent.
  2. At least 2 years working at a similar level.
  3. Excellent financial and numerical skills.
  4. High-level of attention to detail.
  5. Strong commercial awareness.
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Exceptional talent in negotiating and networking.
  8. Solid knowledge of supplier or third-party management software.
  9. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to foster strong supplier relationships.
  10. Efficient IT and data analysis skills with a good competency of MS Excel.
  11. Excellent communication (both written and verbal).
  12. Be resourceful, and have the ability to work well within your team and with other departments.
  13. Experience of working within a multi-faceted organisation.
  14. Ability to adapt approach depending on situation and circumstances.
  15. Be a self-starter and take ownership including excellent follow up.
  16. Valid driving licence holder with own vehicle as some nationwide travel will be required.

We offer a competitive salary of £50,000.00-£55,000.00 per year, plus a range of benefits including company events, company pension, cycle to work scheme, employee discount, on-site parking, and store discount.
