Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Buyer to join our General Merchandise team at Sainsbury's. As a key member of our Seasonal & Kids Buying team, you will play a vital role in delivering our business strategy and driving sales and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of the 3-6 month promotional strategy for your category, ensuring accuracy in pricing across all channels.
- Drive sales and profit by implementing a variety of strategies, including optimising the product range and considering the in-store experience.
- Collaborate with the Product Development (PD) team and global sourcing to set quality criteria for own label products.
- Manage administrative duties and sample management, while efficiently working with UK suppliers.
Requirements
- Experience in buying, preferably in a retail setting, with a deep understanding of product assortment, market trends, and commercial acumen.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, combined with excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- Ability to build relationships with UK suppliers and negotiate effectively, while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
