About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Consultant to join our team at Building Design Partnership. As a key member of our Sustainability Group, you will play a crucial role in delivering environmental certification across various projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of environmental certification, working closely with clients and design teams from early-stage design to project completion.
  • Review project details and develop targets for environmental certification and opportunities to enhance sustainable outcomes.
  • Deliver workshops to communicate sustainability requirements to internal and external team members.
  • Provide support and guidance to design teams in developing compliant and robust design strategies and associated evidence.
  • Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and support planning applications.
  • Monitor construction sites and review evidence for submission to third-party certification organizations.

Requirements

  • A formal qualification in a sustainability/environmental management/built environment subject.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Whole Life Cycle (WLC) and Embodied Carbon analysis using materials life cycle tools and software.
  • Experience working on BREEAM certifications across different RIBA stages, with a confident understanding of how to assess various credits.
  • Working knowledge of environmental and sustainability legislation and its applicability to UK development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Confidence in preparing and delivering presentations to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience of LEED, Ska, or WELL Building Standard assessments.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, and working knowledge of Bluebeam.
  • Experience in carrying out circularity assessments and consultancy.
